Felix Komissarov
Felix Anatolyevich Komissarov is a maker of Yakut khomuses from the village of Megino-Aldan in the Tomponsky District. His interest in blacksmithing began in childhood, when he watched his uncle working as a blacksmith. Komissarov learned to make khomuses from Gavril Nikolayevich Komissarov and later studied under Roman Ilyich Gotovtcen.
In Yakutsk, he worked as a technology teacher at the Yakutsk City National Gymnasium and led a khomus-making club, passing the craft on to schoolchildren. In 2019, Komissarov decided to concentrate on blacksmithing and develop his own khomus production.
At an international competition in 2011, his instrument received the special prize for “Best Traditional Aesthetics”, and Komissarov was awarded the title of International-Class Khomus Maker. His work subsequently won several Sakha Republic festivals: in 2017, Komissarov’s khomus was named the best instrument at the “Darkhan Uus” exhibition, while in 2024 and 2025 he took first place in the “Hello, Khomus of Tuimaada” category at the “Utum Uus” festival.
