Gavril Nikolayevich Komissarov is a maker of Yakut khomuses. He was born in 1947 in the village of Megino-Aldan in the Tomponsky District. He made his first khomus in 1982. In addition to making musical instruments, he practises wood carving.

Komissarov passed his khomus-making skills to Felix Anatolyevich Komissarov, who later also became a maker and performer.

The GK221 “Dzhargalakh” khomus represented in the catalogue has a rich, singing sound and high sensitivity. Additional overtones become more noticeable with reverse strokes, while strong strokes with the frame compressed give the sound a rougher quality. The catalogue archive also includes Komissarov’s large khomus, which emphasises the lower frequencies, and the light, transparent-sounding Komissarov–Burtsev khomus.
