Tatar Kubyzes

Since practically nothing is known about Tatar Jew's harp construction and playing traditions, the phrase “Tatar kubyz” is uttered with great respect and has nearly become a synonym of the concept of “high-quality Jew's harp”, all thanks to the work of one man – Timur Vakhitov. This is the only professional craftsman manufacturing true musical Jew's harps in large, regular batches. Despite having some flaws, everybody plays “standard” or higher kubyzes that completed a many year journey in selecting the instrument. Meanwhile, the deep models of the craftsman cannot boast the same prominent harmony – these are just consistent, medium Jew's harps with a decent cost, which other craftsmen also have a lot of.
