Alexander Fadeev
Alexander Fadeev is a jaw harp maker from Penza, Russia. The instruments represented in the catalogue show that he worked with constructions of markedly different scales, ranging from compact jaw harps with precise, controllable sound to large ultrabass instruments.
The “Ardym” Vargan is particularly notable: an exceptionally large instrument with a 180 mm reed and a fundamental frequency of approximately 30–35 Hz. It produces a very low, relatively clean sound and allows strokes in both directions. Because of its dimensions and reed characteristics, the instrument responds slowly and is better suited to unhurried playing than to rapid rhythmic sequences.
Warning! Overwhelming majority of jaw harps presented are single pieces or made by hand, in very small quantities, instruments. There is no jaw harp factories exists; every one is unique in details, in different degree.
