Darko Korošec is a Slovenian maker of folk musical instruments based in Ljubljana. He made his first instrument at the age of five, assembling a rudimentary guitar from pieces of flooring, nails, and wire. Trained as an electrician, Korošec was drawn to instrument making after a journey inspired him to build a didgeridoo.
For more than thirty years, Korošec has researched and made Slovenian folk instruments while also adapting instruments from other cultures to locally available materials. His workshop has mastered more than thirty types of instruments and sound-making devices. He also leads instrument-making workshops, restores old instruments, and contributes to theatre projects.
The drumlica is one of the Slovenian folk instruments preserved through Korošec’s work. The catalog includes a wooden version of the instrument made by him.
