Sergey Letyagin
Sergey Letyagin is a jaw harp maker from Nizhny Tagil. His work includes forged steel instruments in a variety of sizes and registers. Letyagin experiments with frame proportions and outlines related to those of Yakut khomuses; some frames retain visible forging marks or receive a dark finish.
Letyagin’s jaw harps are characterised by resilient reeds suited to fast playing and strokes in both directions. Their sound ranges from bright mid-to-high tones to deep bass registers; the lower instruments have a rich timbre with clearly defined overtones.
