Svatovsky Yevhen

Yevhen Svatovsky is a Ukrainian musician and maker of metal drymbas from Zolochiv in the Lviv region. As a solo performer, he uses the drymba in original compositions and improvised music.

Svatovsky has made drymbas in a range of sizes and tunings. His instruments are characterised by a strong drone foundation and clearly distinguishable overtones. Many have stiff reeds and require a confident, precise stroke; their high volume and expressive overtone spectrum make them suitable for both rhythmic and melodic playing.

Svatovsky later moved to Italy, where he continued making instruments and performing. In 2024, he appeared at the Marranzano World Fest and the Flavio Fiorletta International Folk Festival, representing Ukraine.
