Quite a loud jews harp with a simple sound, whose frequency range is limited to the middle region. On the one hand, it does not interfere with playing what is - the colorfulness does not drown out the overtones; on the other - extreme frequencies amount may not be enough for someone. Touching a reet tip produces a very strong rustling, also emphasized by a restrained timbre. "Dust" is added when striking inwards. In general, the character of the vargan is smooth, calm and very obedient - in its field it is much more accurate than the "loud" brethren.
