To this day, wooden plate-shaped vargan - the progenitors of metal - are created by craftsmen and craftsmen, although the original traditions in some regions have been completely lost. The Kyrgyz “Zhigach” has a soft, warm sound, but the technique of the game (more precisely, the pulling of the tongue) is fundamentally different from the lamellar and arc vows: the instrument is driven by pulling a rope in the longitudinal direction, which makes the tongue vibrate due to its own mass and lateral vibrations. The process is quite complex and requires a lot of skill. Learning to extract the first sound from this harp is much harder than from ordinary ones; for many, it just doesn’t work.
