Characteristic features of the sound of this khomus are the smoothedness of the timbre due not the big gaps, the absence of cod, the expressed vibrations (though reed is not hard and heavy). The instrument is quite friendly and does not clog with the sound of the player; mechanics allows and disposes to a dynamic playing with the most simple but intense strokes. At a large amplitude, the khomus begins to sound interesting, but the overtone subtleties can not be extracted from it. The strongly narrowing ends of the decks give some specificity to the method of retention and the position of the harpoon on the teeth.
