Vietnamese Dan Moi

Translated literally as “lips instrument”, “dan mois” are the Jew's harps of a small Hmong mountain people presently living in the territory of China, Vietnam, Laos, and Vietnam. Since many craftsmen make dan mois for themselves and their neighbors settled nearby, the Vietnamese manufactory Tai Ku organized small batch manufacture of many varieties of this instrument. Several models turned out so well, that they have won worldwide popularity among Jew's harp lovers and simply those who have an appreciation for exotic wonders thanks to the fantastic price to quality ratio. The Dan Moi Mini, Mini 2, Standard, Basic, and Basic 2 have become modern laminar Jew's harp classics, raising its acoustics to a pitch that would’ve been unachievable for its wooden and bamboo progenitors. Deeper, more massive models lack that shocking lightness when sound is generated from light touching than the actually fancy tooth Jew's harps, but they may be of interest to foodies.
