DESCRIPTION:An edition that starts from the history of traditional luthiery
  in Catania to weave a flow of intangible connections that link Sicily wit
 h the world\, with the complicity of extraordinary “plucked” musical i
 nstruments.\n\n The exhibition “Catania Luthier” will allow us to imme
 rse ourselves in the almost forgotten history of Catania’s luthiery\, th
 anks to an exhibition of valuable instruments\, images\, catalogs\, docume
 nts\, and the reconstruction of a craft workshop that will host meetings w
 ith luthiers and traditional musicians.\n\n Concerts and labs in the progr
 am will help place this history in the broader context of plucked instrume
 nts in the Mediterranean and beyond\, through comparisons with instruments
  like the Arab oud\, the tar and setar from the Middle East\, the kora and
  kamele ‘ngoni from West Africa\, not forgetting the guitar traditions o
 f Italy and the world\, such as the Calabrian “chitarra battente” and 
 the Brazilian “violão.”\n\n The encounter with the musical cultures o
 f other peoples will allow us to rediscover our own traditions related to 
 the guitar\, mandola\, and mandolin in a new light\, which once left Catan
 ia by the thousands to reach the rest of the world.\n\n The MWF (Mediterra
 nean World Festival) enjoys the support of Europa Creativa through the TRE
 MOLO_forte project\, a collaboration with a European network with partners
  in Hungary\, Serbia\, France\, and Belgium. For the first time\, our fest
 ival in 2023 will be twinned with World Refugee Day thanks to the collabor
