German Maultrommels

During the middle ages, Germany, alongside Austria, was the former center of world (European) Jew's harp production, only entails works completed by one craftsman – Andreas Schlutter, so one cannot speak to any regional traditions being present there. He manufactures one “Jew's harp”, using geometry to change the tongue (mainly its length) pitch to very broad extremes – from deep to high, particularly not setting parameters for each specific pitch. As a result, we have conditional universality – in other words, they just feature whatever note, impeding the development of nuances of a separately procured instrument.
